What this website is, and what it is not

A short, plain explanation of how to read these pages, and how to talk to us safely before we represent you.

This website is attorney advertising

Pacifica Law Group APC is a California law firm, and this website is how we describe our work to people who may need it. We are required to say plainly that these pages are advertising. Everything on them is written to be accurate. None of it is a promise.

It is information, not advice

These pages explain how California and federal law generally work in the areas we practice. They are not advice about your situation. Advice requires facts — your dates, your documents, your record, your family — and the facts are what decide cases. Two matters that look identical in a summary often end differently for reasons that only appear when someone reads the file.

Law also moves. We keep these pages current, but a statute can be amended or a case decided the week after we update them. Do not act on something you read here without asking a lawyer whether it still holds and whether it applies to you.

Reading this site does not make us your lawyers

An attorney-client relationship is something both sides agree to. It begins after we have checked for conflicts, talked about the work, and signed a written fee agreement. It does not begin because you visited this website, read a page, submitted a form, called the office, or sent an email.

Please be careful what you send us first

Until we have agreed to represent you, an email or form message is not necessarily privileged and may not be confidential. There is a practical risk as well: if we already represent someone on the other side of your matter, information you volunteered before we were engaged will not prevent that.

So when you first reach out, tell us enough to identify the matter — the kind of case, the county, the names of the people involved, and any deadline you are facing. Keep the rest until we have said yes and put it in writing.

Once we have, tell us everything, including the parts you would rather not. Those are usually the parts that matter.

Past results

Any case results, reviews or testimonials on this site describe what happened in one matter, on its own facts, before one judge. They are not a prediction and not a guarantee. No lawyer can promise you an outcome, and you should be careful with one who does.

Where we are licensed

Our attorneys are licensed in California. We appear in the California superior courts and Courts of Appeal and before the California Supreme Court; in the immigration courts and before the Board of Immigration Appeals; and in the federal district courts and the Ninth Circuit. Nothing on this site is an offer to practice law in a jurisdiction where we are not admitted.

Links to other sites

We sometimes link to courts, agencies and organizations because the information is useful. We do not control those sites and we do not adopt what they say.

If you are in danger

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233, 24 hours a day. If you are reading this on a device someone else can see, consider using a private browsing window and clearing your history when you finish.

Ready to talk?

Tell us the kind of case, the county, and your deadline. We will take it from there.
