Civil Litigation

Civil Litigation Throughout California

Pacifica Law Group APC represents plaintiffs and defendants in civil disputes in the California superior courts, in the federal district courts, and on appeal. Partner Kevin W. Harris brings nearly four decades of California trial and appellate experience to this practice.

The through-line of that experience is a particular kind of case: an individual on one side, and an institution with far deeper resources on the other. An injured person against an insurer. An employee against an employer or a public agency. A citizen against a county. Those are the cases we take, and they are cases that are won by preparation rather than by volume.

Our civil practice

Personal Injury

Auto and trucking collisions, serious and catastrophic injury, premises liability, and wrongful death.

Claims against public agencies and officials, administrative hearings and writs, and forfeiture actions.

General Civil Litigation

Contract and business disputes, real property, fraud claims, and complex multi-party matters.

Appeals

California Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the Ninth Circuit.

Cross-Practice Cases

Civil matters that also carry immigration or criminal exposure, handled together in one office.

How we work

Kevin has spent most of his career associating as co-counsel with other litigators — an approach that lets a case be staffed for its actual complexity rather than for the size of a letterhead. That is still how we prefer to work. We welcome referrals and co-counsel arrangements from other firms, and we are glad to take on the litigation or appellate portion of a matter while another firm continues with the rest.

A note on deadlines

Civil claims carry hard filing deadlines, and claims against public entities carry much shorter ones — often six months. Whatever the dispute, the earlier you talk to a lawyer, the more options you still have.
